Candles of Hope

If you ask anyone, most of them have a hope. A hope that drives them to be what they want to be. A hope to be better than yesterday. However, to those who wonder, where could we find hope? This question led me to make this painting. “Candle of Hope” symbolises that hope isn’t far, but it’s close to us. Most of the time, we don’t even realise that we have it inside us.

I began with a dark background with a mix of dreamy structure of blue shades scattered on the canvas. The blue shades represent the willingness to find the hidden hope inside us. While the pink splashes show the struggle to find hope, the white dots symbolise that we are the hope.

As hope is always associated with chasing dreams, I added sprinkles with white colour to represent the consistency of trying and hoping. In addition to that, you can see a deep red all around the canvas. This is to show a bad experience in the past; however, it gives us the strength to push it away and continue with our journey.

My hope with this artwork is for you to look at it as a reminder that the hope isn’t far away and, in fact, we can offer the hope either to ourselves or to others.
