Have you ever felt lost in searching for your dream? You didn’t know which direction to take, didn’t know exactly what you were looking for, and then you thought you were losing yourself. “Oblivion” carries the weight of these questions and feelings.

When I started with the bright background colour, it represented the fantasy world that everyone desires, where everything seemed perfect. While the light yellow in the centre represents the reality of the world, it also serves as a frame that traps everyone inside. Besides, the dark brown shades mean the different paths to take, which lead to confusion and loss.

The patterns around the canvas represent all of the unanswered questions in one’s thoughts. Then, come the elements of red shades in the middle indicate the traveller’s troubles, which he was unable to express, no matter how much he tried.

With this piece, I invite you to slow down and look around at what matters the most. Is it them? Is it the worldly things or…is it you?
