Affection

Have you ever felt tired of the daily routine but still unsure what to do? A fresh start can feel exciting and frightening at once. It is when our hearts are full of doubt and a wish to feel alive again. In this painting, I wanted to capture the moment sadness begins to loosen its grip and the soul finally asks for something warmer, brighter, and more honest. What if this new beginning is the moment we have been waiting for? Thus the Affection was born.

Unlike most of my paintings, this time I let the background be white. It is to show all the new things that will shape the background. The yellow and orange tones symbolise warmth, courage, and the first glow of renewal. They move through the canvas like sunlight entering a room that has been closed for too long. Besides, the pink and peach colours carry tenderness, self-kindness, and emotional healing, while the purple brings depth, memory, and the mystery of becoming someone new. The touches of blue represent calm breaths one feels inside.

I let the flowing colours spread across the canvas to create patterns. This act is meant to show that we can go anywhere we want. Moreover, the white textured marks are to remind us of light breaking through and give joy where we are no longer hiding our feelings. I wanted the movement to feel free, making Affection an original abstract painting for collectors who love contemporary abstract art, colourful wall art, warm abstract painting, modern fine art, and meaningful artwork for bright interiors.

I wish that you will feel comforted and inspired when you see Affection. I want this artwork to motivate you that starting again does not always need to be loud or dramatic.
